Wednesday lunch mtg W2300 & other events

Dear PHCF,

It's the second week of term and everyone seems to be getting used to the rhythm of school again, but let us not forget to pray without ceasing for our community and our country. Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 10:19) Yes, this verse is specific to Israel thousands of years ago, but it still speaks to us with great spiritual power today, and in turn, informs our understanding of how to treat those different from us. Even now, Christians are sojourners on earth until we arrive to our ultimate home with Christ in heaven. So, while we are still alive on earth, let us find ways to love the sojourner so as to reflect God's incredible love for us. Welcome back! Many announcements this week...

Dear PHCF, Welcome back! It is so exciting to see the school so full again as third term begins. A verse to meditate on this morning as we consider fresh starts in this new year: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Cor 5:17). What a joy to trust that because of Jesus we are made new (not through any of our own efforts) and that he has prepared in advance good works for us to do! May his Spirit equip you today, more than ever, to be his hands and feet in your classes and workplaces.

Spring schedule & conference at Homewood campus 2/18

Dear PHCF,

Intersession brings new friends (and old) to JHSPH this cold January Tuesday! Borrowing from Donald Whitney, here's a question to mull on at the start of a new year - an "ideal time to stop, look up, and get our bearings": What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?

Perhaps Psalm 23 will inspire you in your seeking His face this morning: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want...

Happy New Year! An exciting event is coming up...

PHCF, along with other Christian groups at Hopkins, will be hosting the Symposium on Christian Faith, Reason, and Vocation on Saturday February 18 at the Homewood campus. This is a great chance to fellowship with students, alumni, and faculty from across the Hopkins campuses and explore the day's theme!

The event will include a keynote talk, "Faith and Science: Conflict, Coexistence, or Cooperation", by JHU history of science professor Lawrence Principe, as well as a networking lunch (free lunch!) and breakout panels consisting of alumni and faculty exploring the symposium theme in different arenas such as public health, humanities, or science & technology.

You can RSVP for the event here: 832society.com/symposium, and please pass this along to friends! All are welcome: students, staff, faculty, alumni, friends, or family!
