Summer student activities fair, CCIH conference help needed, and more announcements

Dear PHCF,

Hebrews 13:21 says, [He] equip[s] you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Isn't it reassuring that God is actively working on us? That in our habit-building and habit-breaking and creation of consistency and rhythms of meeting needs and most of all planting the desire to seek the Lord's face, it isn't you that has to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and God will allow you to do so; rather, God is able to work in and through you. Dear ones, praying that you find freedom in Jesus tonight, knowing that God's will will be done and that he is pleased in, his dearly beloved sons and daughters.

PHCF weekly meetings are taking a hiatus for the month of June.

However, please contact jhsph.phcf@gmail.com if you have prayers, reflections, or announcements you'd like to share with the rest of PHCF (or individual questions/comments for the PHCF leaders).

Help needed! If you are available to help out for the MPH Student Activities Fair on Monday July 2, 11am-12:30pm (lunch provided), please email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com. We need help to prepare a flyer (can adapt from last year's) and plan summer activities!

Finally, for those who are staying at JHSPH/in Baltimore post-graduation, we need new student leaders - please pray! and email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com if you're interested in seeing what role you can play in this group.
Grace and peace,
Teresa - for PHCF

  • I am currently in medical school in Israel but will be taking a gap year next year for my MPH. I'm arriving June 25th in Baltimore and I'm coming straight from Israel. At the moment, I'm still trying to figure out housing for next year. I'm on all the sites and Facebook pages looking, but haven't found a place yet. Do you know of any christian young women looking for a roommate? Or a single place in a safe neighborhood? I do come with my cat and I will eventually have a car. I'm hoping to find a place at under $1000/month including utilities.
  • For Rent: Downtown Baltimore partially furnished 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhouse in Ridgley's Delight, next to UMB, light rail, and MARC train @ $1200/month available August 2018. Central AC, washer, dryer, newly remodeled kitchen. For pictures or more info, email Beth at bethzucconi@gmail.com (from a faithful sister in Christ who did her postdoc in the School of Medicine)
  • My name is Joseph Yoon. I am a medical student at UC Davis taking a gap year to complete an MPH at Hopkins. I grew up in Costa Rica where my parents continue to serve as Christian missionaries. I am looking for either a studio or a single room/bathroom for the year. Ideally, I would love to live and fellowship with fellow Christians during my year in Baltimore. Super excited to see what God has in store this upcoming year! Contact: josebiyosebi88@gmail.com
3. Hungry of Hope Christian Conference - Nashville TN - June 22-23

4. Christian Connections in International Health conference - Baltimore MD - July 13-15
CCIH, a nonprofit "promoting global health and wholeness from a Christian perspective", has its annual conference here in Baltimore at Hopkins Homewood campus (Charles Commons conference center, 3301 N Charles), July 13-15. A really great way to connect with believers who are also public health practitioners, whether health professionals, church leaders, missions organizations, or folks doing research and programs - and truly a great mix of nations represented. Registration is now open! Register here. See the conference program. See conference registration rates (you are a student member if you are in PHCF and are a continuing student OR within 12 months of your JHSPH graduation date; we pay annual dues for student org membership).

Rates go up after June 8, so register sooner rather than later! There are 2 pre-conferences on Friday that you can register for separately, and full registration (covers 3 days) or one-day registration if you just can come Saturday or Sunday.

**HELP NEEDED**

1) CCIH is looking for a worship team for this year's conference. If you are a student who can lead, sing, or play, please contact jhsph.phcf@gmail.com AND mona.bormet@ccih.org - your conference registration can be covered. (Some folks coming to the conference from the Global South are willing to sing, too.)

2) If you are willing to house students/developing country professionals from out of town for a couple nights to help them save money on lodging, please let mona.bormet@ccih.org know. Right now, CCIH has both a female and male student looking for lodging. The female is looking for a place Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th and the male is looking for Thursday the 12th - Sunday the 15th.
