Fri noon Bible study, CCIH conference, and job/housing opportunities

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,

A few things coming up:
1) Friday Bible Study 12noon, Zoom link
2) CCIH conference: virtual, free, June 1-July 9! Register here.
3) Job opportunities
4) Housing opportunities
5) Global Missions Health Conference

On this day-before-the-last-day-of-the-academic-year (a very unusual year indeed), praying that as you finish proposals, papers, projects, presentations, and plenty of other things-to-do, you are filled with the wisdom from above which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere and that through you, a harvest of righteousness will be sown in peace (James 3:17-18). May the Lord be your strength, your refuge, and your joy today, wherever you are and whatever you do, dear ones!

1) Friday Bible Study at 12noon
Please join us as Ope leads Bible study on Mt 20:20-28 this week! Zoom link (Meeting ID: 957 8035 5238, Password: phcf)

2) CCIH conference: virtual, free, June 1-July 9!
The CCIH 2020 annual conference [theme: Holistic care of body, mind, and spirit] is virtual, with a series of online sessions from June 1 to July 9. There is no cost to participants, so we hope many people around the world can participate. We look forward to connecting online and having conversations that will continue after the conference. Each of the 6 weeks has a different theme:
  • June 1-5: Leadership for Holistic Health
  • June 8-12: Christian Response in Humanitarian Emergencies
  • June 15-19: Mental Health Services: Lessons from the Field
  • June 22-26: Funding Environments to Empower Holistic Care
  • June 29-July 3: Health Systems Strengthening for Holistic Care
  • July 6-10: Community Programs and Advocacy Must Go On (Avec une session en français).
See the agenda (and more information) here. You can register for all the sessions at once, or choose the ones you would like.

3) Job opportunities:
a) with World Relief
World Relief is hiring a new Haiti Country Director - apply if you speak Creole/French! :)

b) with CCIH/World Relief
Christian Connections for International Health | CCIH is hiring a Project Coordinator to work on CCIH grants focused on maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) and family planning (FP) in 6 different countries on USAID-funded grants. This is a full-time position and is a NEW position. The primary responsibilities of the Project Coordinator are tracking and monitoring the project activities of the subgrantees towards the goals of the overall grant. See the full position description and how to apply. (Read directions carefully!)

This person will be working almost 100% remote and needs to be comfortable and able to work at home by him/herself. As all travel is not happening right now and not sure when any work travel will start, that part of the job is not happening. Ideally, this person will be in the DC metro area as the team does get together in person at least quarterly. Will be working closely with Mona Bormet at CCIH and Amberle Brown (PHCF alumnus '16) at WorldRelief.

4) Housing opportunity
a) From PHCF alum Michelle Sun: Hi! I graduated from the MPH program in 2016 and subsequently stayed in Baltimore and purchased a sunny row home just a 10 minute walk from JHSPH (see photos/description here). I am now doing residency in NYC. It's a 3 bed 2.5 bath fully furnished, with a basement and backyard and W&D. I'm renting out one bedroom (yellow) for $650/month plus utilities. You'd be living with two other lovely gals - one is a PhD student and the other is in the nursing program. If interested, please message me or email michellejsun@gmail.com. If you have any other questions about the MPH, please reach out as well - I loved it!

b) from Lyndsay DeGroot: a PhD student in the School of Nursing and a faithful member of Saint Mo's Church (a non-denominational church plant in Barclay), Lyndsay is looking for a new (female, Christian) apartment-mate starting in June 2020! She has a very cute apartment in Mount Vernon, more details and contact info here.

5) Global Missions Health Conference - Nov 12-14, 2020
Held annually in Louisville, KY, the Global Missions Health Conference is like Intervarsity's Urbana conference - but focused on people in healthcare or public health who have a heart for missions (both globally and locally). GMHC is a weekend of encouragement, networking, learning, and much more. Registration ($105 for students) is currently ongoing!
