Friday 11am ET Bible study, Networking opportunities, GMHC online

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (Ja 1:2-4). Dear ones, praying that you hold onto the Lord who is Peace (Judges 6:24) that you remember that the joy of the Lord is [your] strength (Neh 8:10). Whether you are taking your epi exam tomorrow (MPH students) or figuring out what school/housing/research/labwork/practicum/analysis/writing is going to look like this fall, praying that your feet remain firmly planted on the Rock of your salvation who never leaves and never forsakes.

2) "Growing in Your Vocation as a Science Professional" mini-conference, Sat Jul 25, 1pm
The American Scientific Affiliation (an organization of Christian scientists, mostly basic science focused but perhaps of interest to some of our public health students) and the Intervarsity Emerging Scholars Network are co-hosting a mini-conference. Praveen Sethupathy, Cornell University Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences, will speak on "Growing in Your Vocation as a Science Professional," helping us explore ways of building trust as Christians in the scientific workplace. There will be an opportunity to connect with colleagues and mentors in interactive groups. The conference will include an online reception and registered guests will receive a cool gift box with some fun surprises! We would encourage you to register here and to invite an emerging scholar or student to join you as well.

3) Christian Women in Science zoom social with the American Scientific Affiliation, Sat Jul 25, 4pm
After the mini-conference, there is a social (virtual after-party) for women in science at 4pm. Register here. Grab a glass of wine or your favorite drink and come for a relaxing time of fellowship.

7) Global Missions Health Conference - Nov 12-14, 2020
Held annually in Louisville, KY, but VIRTUAL this year, the Global Missions Health Conference is like Intervarsity's Urbana conference - but focused on people in healthcare or public health who have a heart for missions (both globally and locally). GMHC is a weekend of encouragement, networking, learning, prayer, and much more - really helpful to discern God's calling on your life. Registration ($50 for students) is currently ongoing! Wendy Zhang (a friend from the UMB School of Nursing) is organizing a group of folks from Baltimore to watch-party together - please contact her if you'd like to join :)
