Wed lunch mtg, special talk next Thurs, 832 Symposium, and more!

Dear PHCF,

Welcome back! It is a joy to to see so many of you back in the SPH halls :) This morning, one verse I wanted to share with you is 2 Cor 3:18 - We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image. Dear ones, I encourage you to sit for a moment (or several) today, being still before the Lord. Contemplate his glory, his goodness, his grace. How has he worked (and how is he working) in your life? How can you surrender today to him? I pray that as you rest in him you are transformed more into his likeness and that others can see him shining through you. (For more eloquent reflections on this verse, see today's devo by Oswald Chambers.

Tomorrow, please join us for our Wednesday lunch gathering, 12:15pm in Room W2033, for fellowship and prayer! There'll be snacks :)
*Please note, next week we are cancelling our usual Wednesday gathering and encourage you to attend/pray for Wai Jia's Thursday lunch talk in Feinstone Hall 12noon (more details in 1. Prayer requests below).

You are welcome to join us at any/all of our recurring gatherings:

  3. Christian Community Health Fellowship Conference "Risen & Awake" - Cincinnati OH - Apr 19-21
1. Prayer requests:
  • Pray for our sister Wai Jia (MPH candidate '18) whose Kitesong Global social venture kickoff event will be held next Thurs Feb 1 at 12pm in Feinstone. Pray for the Lord to give her His words to share for this event, that many at Hopkins would be touched and drawn to the light of Christ. Praise God that the SPH is providing a room, as well as cake! Pray for provision and favor: for her books to be restocked on Amazon in time and for people to support ( She would love to have fellow believers there, just to silently pray alongside her during the event (and enjoy food and engage in conversation)!
  • Pray for the beginning of the spring semester/3rd term - for fresh energy and "doing all work for the glory of God".
  • Pray for prospective/new students, as they wait for admission decisions and consider where to attend, that God brings exactly who he wants to JHSPH at exactly the right time.
  • Pray for our PHCF brothers and sisters who are currently afar for work/practicum/missions/dissertation research, for traveling mercies on their way back to Baltimore.
2. 832 Symposium on Faith, Reason, and Vocation: Professional Ethics at Homewood - Feb 17Ever wonder what it means to live and work ethically as a public health professional? The 8:32 Society is a group connecting believers (students, alumni, faculty, and staff) across the Hopkins campuses. PHCF, along with other Christian groups on campus, is hosting the Symposium on Christian Faith, Reason, and Vocation at Homewood campus Feb 17, 2018, 9:45am-3pm - this year's focus is on Professional Ethics. The event will include a keynote talk by Nigel Cameron, field-specific discussion panels, and a networking lunch.

RSVP here! (If you are interested in helping out - whether for food, marketing, setup, logistics, moderating, contacting speakers, fundraising, prayer - please let Teresa know!)

The CCHF Conference offers medical students and residents hope as they interact with providers and others who are caring for the poor and the marginalized in their communities.
Join us at the only domestic missions conference specifically for those working to provide excellent and holistic health care to the poor and marginalized in the United States.
