Wed guest speaker (12:15p W2033), Labor day cookout, and more!
Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,
Close to the end of Isaiah, the prophet writes, "I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love." (Is 63:7). In the midst of judgment and salvation, vengeance and mercy, glory and redemption, Isaiah reminds the people of Israel to remember God's abundant and steadfast love for his people. It is finals week for our new MPH class, and the amount of work to do and material to study may feel overwhelming, but we pray that you are rooted and grounded in Jesus, who is before all things and in him all things hold together (Col 1:17). May your work and your words be a sacrifice of praise to him this week. (Here's a song for meditation)
Tues, Travis will not be on campus so we will NOT have our usual John Bible study. However, anyone is welcome to use Room W9514 during the 11am-1pm time frame for quiet reflection, study, meditation, or prayer. The John Bible study will resume the first week of Sept.
Wed at 12:15pm, we will meet in Room W2033 (across from Paige Hall/W2030). Please welcome our special guest speaker! Joel Kurz is the pastor of The Garden Church in west Baltimore. The Garden is focused on making disciples among the generationally poor and have launched ONE HOPE, a ministry which raises support for urban missions. Joel would like to speak on the topic of poverty and opportunities to support the work in Baltimore.
If you have prayers, reflections, songs, or announcements you'd like to share with the rest of PHCF (or individual questions/comments for the PHCF leaders), please email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com!

New PHCF whatsapp group: we've heard some interest in a whatsapp group for easier communication/support/sharing/ prayer during the week outside of our meetings / beyond emails. We'll set this up on Wed, and you can also opt-in to joining this group by whatsapp-ing your name/number to Teresa or Jessica.
Need some PHCF student leaders: if you're a current student and interested in helping out in specific ways this year, please talk to Jessica, Shawn, or Teresa. We need people to: re-register PHCF as a student group, help with the Student Activities Fair, liaise with the Christian Connections for International Health conference planning team, and join us in planning/praying for the year!
Grace and peace,
Teresa - for PHCF
