[PHCF] Tues Activities Fair, ice cream social next week, lots of announcements/praises/prayers

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing... They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God. (Is 35:1-2) What a vision of transformation in when the Lord comes in his full glory! Isaiah goes on to write of weak hands strengthened, feeble knees made firm, and anxious hearts releasing their fear. Dear ones, praying for your hope to be found in Christ alone today. May you take joy and comfort knowing that your Savior is mighty to save, and that he has called you to his Kingdom work - whatever your specific vocational calling - until he comes again.

Please pray for the start of first term (and for new MHS, MSPH, ScM PhD, DrPH.. students) - for peace in the challenges and joys of starting a new school year, for ordained meetings and connections, and for his glory to be made known through the presence of his people on campus. Please pray for the Student Activities Fair on Tuesday at lunch, as new students consider where to "make community" this year outside of their coursework.

No Wed lunch meeting this week! But please mark in your calendars - Next Wednesday is our fall ice cream social / PHCF meet-and-greet 12:15pm in room W2033. See you there!

New PHCF whatsapp group: we've heard some interest in a whatsapp group for easier communication/support/sharing/prayer during the week outside of our meetings / beyond emails. Please contact Teresa or Jessica if you're interested in joining.

Need some PHCF student leaders: if you're a current student and interested in helping out in specific ways this year, please talk to Jessica, Shawn, or Teresa. We need people to: re-register PHCF as a student group, attend the JHSPH Special Events Training, and join us in planning/praying for the year!

If you have prayers, reflections, songs, or announcements you'd like to share with the rest of PHCF (or individual questions/comments for the PHCF leaders), please email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com!

Grace and peace,
Teresa - for PHCF

  • Pray for the persecuted church around the world. Pray for those enduring through natural disaster (e.g. Kerala, India, post-flooding recovery). Pray for the leaders of the nations around the world, and of our state and city.
  • Pray for our seeking of holiness, and not just efficiency or growing in talents/knowledge//giftedness but keeping our focus on Jesus and his glory! Recent conviction from this testimony by Joni Eareckson Tada: https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/beware-of-running-too-hard

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks, slaves or free - and all were made to drink of one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:12-13)
