Worship night tomorrow E6519, 6pm! prayers, housing, job, and lots of conferences

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship, This morning, I wanted to share a song for reflection, Is he worthy? by Andrew Peterson:  https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=OIahc83Kvp4  focusing on Jesus: who he is and what he's done. (And some  post-music-video thoughts  that are a wonderful example of humility.) This Wed, we are hosting  Worship night  with the other graduate/professional school campus ministries (Medical Student Christian Fellowship, Fellowship of Christian Nurses, International Fellowship, Graduate Christian Fellowship). Join us tomorrow  6pm in E6519  for food, worship, and fellowship!  More details / RSVP here:  http://bit.ly/ jhuworship18 After all, the psalmist writes,  Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him  Ps 98:1). Even in the midst of end-of-the-year busy-ness, pause and join us in worship :) For those who are staying at JHSPH/in Baltimore after May, we need ne

Wed lunch mtg W3011 (guest speaker Worldrelief), game night outreach, worship night, and conferences galore!

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship, Do you ever feel like you've been walking in the wilderness? Unsure what next, perhaps going in circles, fuzzy sense of God's calling and direction, a little lost and frustrated and confused? Moses told the Israelites (Deut 8:2), "remember the whole way that the lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart." Dear ones, it is in the hard places that we find out whether we do hold God first - keeping his commandments, trusting that we live by his Word and not by our means/our own power, remembering that God's discipline is not meant for our harm but our good (chapter 8). Praying for each of you to trust him anew today, not forgetting who he is and what he has done - best of all in giving us Jesus as savior, redeemer, and friend.  ( Here's a good song  for reflection and encouragement today! May your work be to his glory.) Th

Wed lunch mtg E6519 (guest speaker HopeSprings), worship night 4/25, and more

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship, Tonight in the face of perhaps daunting pressures - the end of the academic year! projects and programs nearing completion! impending job! relational issues! a broken society/world - I wanted to remind you of the promise and comfort of Heb 4:14.  Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  Not through our own power or striving or motivation or dedication can we do anything: it is the power of Christ alone who can keep us in faith and make the impossible possible. Will you put your confidence in him anew today, trusting that he will complete what he has started in you whom he has called, leading you in the way everlasting and directing your paths? This  Wed lunch, 12:15-1:15pm,  in  Room E6519 (please note room change!) , guest speaker Rev. Derek Miller will be sharing about  HopeSprings  - a faith-based organization serving people living with HIV here

Wed lunch prayer mtg; guest speakers; worship night; conferences; and more!

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship, Happy Easter! This weekend, we remembered and celebrated Christ crucified and resurrected. Part of Jesus' story involves another man by the name of Jesus Barabbas. Read his story here:  https://www.crossway.org/artic les/we-are-barabbas/  - and reflect on the power of substitutionary atonement and Christ's love for us. We pray that this week you remember the gospel: announcement of the glorious victory of the risen King. It is this gospel Paul calls  "the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes"  (Rom 1:16).  With folks' busy schedules during fourth term, we're going to have a slightly adjusted schedule for PHCF. Every other Wednesday lunchtime (because several have expressed the desire to have more career/future-oriented sessions), we will have a guest speaker share about the public health work they do and how their faith in Jesus makes a difference. Prayer meetings will take place the remaining wee
