Tuesday mtg, Christmas, JIL internships, & more!

Dear PHCF,

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11-12) A prayer for all of us this Monday morning: may we, like the shepherds, take the angel's words to heart, laying down our fears (and worries and stress - especially as finals and projects and papers come upon us) and trusting in this good news that Jesus has come! Praying also for diligence, strength, and perseverance in the work he has given us.

Some announcements:

1. Tomorrow (Tuesday) in room E2133 at noon, Jessica Harrington will lead PHCF in a personal values workshop. It will be a good time to identify and define the principles, beliefs, standards, and/or judgments you deem most important - and develop a personal plan putting those values to action. Very helpful to pause for some introspection and goalsetting along your academic, personal, and professional journeys. So come, bring your lunch, and join us in fellowship!

2. Christmas gathering Dec 19, 6-9pm -- Potluck dinner, carols, baking, and reflection with the Med Student Christian Fellowship in North Patterson Park! I know it's finals in the SPH next week - so come if you can, drop by for cookies, or let Teresa (4437459250) know if you'd like a special cookie delivery ;) More details in separate post.

3. Paid internship opportunity -- the Joint Learning Initiative in Faith and Local Communities is offering three 8-week internships! Rolling application, so apply soon; ideally, interns will start in January 2017. More details in separate post.

4. Christian Connections for International Health (CCIH) has announced its call for scholarship applications and abstract submissions to its summer conference (July 13-15, 2017 at Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus). This year's theme is Strengthening Global Health: Faith at the Center. Abstract submissions are due Jan 23. Students and professionals from developing countries may also apply for scholarships, due Feb 6. Two types of scholarships are available: the general conference scholarship for all global health interests and the Luann and Ray Martin MCH Health Scholarship for maternal/child health students and professionals only.

5. Spring 2017 schedule preferences -- Looking forward to third/fourth term and changing schedules, we would like to continue being faithful to meet as a fellowship. Please email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com your preference for (1) day(s) of the week and (2) time of day -- will try to pick a regular day/time that most can come!

6. CMDA Retreat
-- MSCF has invited us to join in on the annual Christian Medical and Dental Association Northeast Conference. It is Jan 13-15, 2017, in Harvey Cedars, NJ. There'll be a group going together from Hopkins; email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com if you're interested! More details here: https://cmda.org/events/detail/wc2017

Blessings,
Teresa for PHCF
