Wed lunch mtg W2303 (room change!), and more

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,  Apologies for the super late email! Praying for each of you this week to have a greater ability to see God as who he really is - and to remember what he has done and is still now doing! - and be transformed from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor 3:18). Tomorrow (Wed), we will have our regular lunch meeting 12:15-1:15pm in Room W2303 (please note room change: this is the classroom in the hidden hallway in the middle of 2nd floor, enter from the door by the 2nd floor copier/atrium... or text Teresa  +1-443-745-9250  if you're lost!). We will have guest speaker Larry Lin, a pastor from Village Church. Fresh-baked cookies will also be provided :) For those who are staying at JHSPH/in Baltimore after May, we are also looking to expand the PHCF leadership team - please pray! and email  jhsph.phcf@gmail.com  if you're interested in seeing what role you can play in this group. Wed Bible study/prayer W2303, praises/prayers, and more

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship, Do you feel weary this morning, stretched thin and taut, your attention spread in all directions in our rapid-paced, overstimulating culture? In Matt 11:28, Jesus says,  Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Will you hear his voice, lay your struggles and fears before him, and draw close to him? Likewise, Paul writes:  Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words  (Rom 8:26).  Brothers and sisters, we pray for those of you finishing midterms this week (especially those taking the Biostats midterm this morning!) and for those working on job/scholarship applications and grants. May God strengthen you with focus and clarity, so that your work (your studies) bring him much glory. We pray too for the brokenness of this world, for  Parkland and grief, and wisdom i...

RSVP for symposium on faith+work this Sat! and more announcements

Dear PHCF, Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday (for our protestant and catholic brethren). Lent is a season of preparation for Easter, often marked by reflection, repentance, and fasting. We encourage each of you to take time for self-examination in these weeks leading up to Easter, remembering Christ and the cross and who we are in him and because of what he has done. (If you would like a devo to guide your quiet times,  Cru made a nice one !) Praying for you to trust more deeply today our compassionate Lord who says,  For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed. (Is 54:10) This Wednesday, we will not have our regular lunch meeting, but you are welcome to use Room W2033 between 12:15-1:15 for gathering/prayer. You are welcome to join us at any/all of our recurring gatherings: - Lunch meetings on Wednesdays at 12:15pm in Room W2033 (contact  PHCF ) - Small group on Mondays at 7...

Wed lunch mtg W2033 (guest speaker Dr. Mosley), housing opportunities, 832 symposium on Christian Faith, Reason, and Vocation

Dear PHCF, When the Israelites were frozen with fear, stuck between the Red Sea and the oncoming Egyptian army, Moses told them:  “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  (Exodus 14:13-14) Brothers and sisters, am praying for you to be still before the Lord, to experience his presence, his goodness, and his salvation in the face of all your fears, and for you to see him as your all in all. May you have a renewed sense of wonder today as you contemplate his character and how he has worked in your life. We acknowledge that the world we live in is broken and groaning, but we trust that this is not the end - and til the new heavens and earth come, we have kingdom work to do. Will you step into whatever the Lord has in store for you, trusting him step by step? This Wednesday, please join us for a  special lunch mee...
