[belated] Thanksgiving, guest speaker Dr. Gaskin 12/3, CMDA conference, and more!

Dear Public Health Christian Fellowship,

Just before he gives the high priestly prayer in John 17, Jesus tells his disciples, I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world (Jn 16:33). Dear ones, as you prepare for midterms and meetings and many things-to-do, I pray for you to rest in his peace and to remember your confidence lies not in your own accomplishments but in his strength and purpose. Praying also that you have time this week to reflect and give thanks with friends and family :)

Today, Room W3031 will be open over lunchtime for folks to meet and pray and eat - no structured session.

Save the date! Next Tuesday 12/5, Dr. Darrell Gaskin (professor in the HPM dept) will share his faith and testimony with us at PHCF (lunchtime in Room W3031). Please join us!

Other event announcements:
  • CDMA Northeast Winter Conference: Jan 17-19 (MLK weekend), Christian healthcare professionals at all levels of training and practice will gather at the Sandy Cove Conference Center in North East, Maryland for a great weekend of fun, fellowship, small groups and two dynamic speakers: William “Griff” Griffin, DDS, and Keshia Brown, PA-C. The overall theme will be “Healing for the Healthcare Professional.” Register here. While this is targeted at people in the medical and dental professions, they welcome people from public health and allied health professions too - PHCFers who have attended in the past have greatly benefited from attending.
Leadership: if interested in leadership, please email jhsph.phcf@gmail.com - this group relies on Jesus first and foremost for guidance and direction, but also needs you as student leaders as His hands and feet here in our school.

Biostatisticians: For those of you looking into a biostats career... a PHCF alumnus (Sherlly Xie) wanted to share that the American Statistical Association (ASA:statisticians::APHA:MPHers) has a interest group called International Christian Statisticians (ICS). ICS just began offering a mentorship program: sign up to be mentor or mentee; get paired up with a mentee/mentor. The coordinator of this mentorship program is Dr. Jason Wilson at Biola University.
