New Tues Bible study (book of John) starting today!, Wed lunch mtg tmrw, and more!

Dear PHCF, It's midterm time for MPH'ers and almost moving time for new fall students! In the middle of lots of change (and pressing to-do's), it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But as Christians, we have hope, and we need to resist despair in light of that hope. We may fully expect to be “afflicted in every way, but not [finally] crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). Why? Because we trust in Jesus (a related song  here ). Praying this morning for you, that "the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Starting this Tuesday (today!), Travis Roberts (MPH candidate) will be holding a  Bible study  on the  book of John  in  Room W9514  (9th floor conference room next to the stairs that open by the Garden Plate). These studies will be  11am-1pm  over the summer and 12noon-1:15pm starting in Sept. Everyone is welc...

Wed lunch mtg W2033, new Tuesday Bible study, and other announcements!

Dear PHCF, We hear that the new MPHers have gotten through your first set of midterm papers/quizzes, phew! A song that has been on our hearts for you is  Finish What He Started  - especially the bridge which reflects Paul's words to the Philippian church:  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.  (Phil 1:6). No matter your ups and downs, he is working in and through and around you - and we pray that you continue growing in your trust in Him this week! Tomorrow, we will meet in  Room W2033  (across from Paige Hall/W2030) for Bible study and prayer. We'll have a few BIbles but please feel free to bring your own (or a phone) to read along and discuss. (Passage: Mt 13:1-9,18-23) Also, starting next Tuesday, Travis Roberts (MPH candidate) will be holding a Bible study on the book of John (room to be announced). These studies will be 11am-1pm over the summer and 12noon-1:15pm...

Ice cream social meet-and-greet Wed 12:15 W2033, and other announcements

Dear PHCF, As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to my empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  ( Is 55:10-11 ). Tonight, will you believe in the power and steadfast promise of God's word? In the midst of confusion or disappointment or feeling overwhelmed or much joy and excitement, will you choose to surrender to him, choose to seek after him, choose to trust that he is with you? Praying for each of you tonight to cling tightly to Jesus no matter your circumstances, and that he becomes even more precious to you today than yesterday. I also wanted to share a song for meditation:  One Thing . Our first PHCF meeting of the new academic year will be tomorrow  Wednesday 7/18, 12:15pm  - an  ice cream social m...

[last week's email] Ice cream social meet-and-greet next Wed, Looking for TA, pray for CCIH, and more

Dear PHCF, Listening this evening to some hymns and pondering what it means - as we walk steadily with the Lord and with each other in the places and fields where he has called us - to stand firm on  Christ the solid rock . "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" ( 2 Cor 5:21 ) - Praying that we might all cling to Jesus, reflect his goodness to the people around us, and share the goodness of the gospel ( as a great example, listen to Tim Keller last week speaking at Parliament ), and praying for our new MPH students as you settle into a new rhythm of school and life here at Hopkins. Our first PHCF meeting of the new academic year will be next  Wednesday 7/18, 12:15pm  - an  ice cream social meet-and-greet  (for PHCF'ers old and new) in  Room W2033  (across from Paige Hall/W2030).  Grace and peace, Teresa - for PHCF Helpful links:  PHCF website  |  map/list of loca...
